Biotechnology

1) What is Biotechnology?
    - Biotechnology is technology and machine that allows us to interact with human, plant or animal body which envolves living organism. Usually use to helps us to replace any missing or useless part of our body.

2) Who could benefit from this technology and what are the advantages?
    - Disable and injured people could benefit from this technology because it helps those people to have a normal life with enough parts of body. The advantage is to help people to replace their missing parts with more functional machine part. Therefore, machine hand, leg or any parts have more functions than our normal part do, for example, machine hand can turn the wrist very easily without hurting.

3) Is it ethical to replace human body parts with biotechnology?
    - I think it is right to replace human body parts with biotechnology but only for some cases. For instance, if a person is missing a leg or a hand, that person can replace their hand with biotechnology to have more oppotunities to do normal daily jobs. For a healthy, normal person, replacing their body parts with biotechnology would be wrong because they have normal parts so why should they replace it, isn't it better with your natural part? In conclusion, I think it is not the wrong thing to replace human body parts with biotechnology but not everyone should use biotechnology.

Future Home Technology

As we know, technologies have been changed over years. Through years, there are a lot of improvements were made on different technologies. For example, the telephone transformed from a big and heavy one to a modern Iphone that we're using today. In this speed of making innovations, we know that technologies are going to be big in the future. As I go through some web pages, I found out about the clever toilet which checks on your health by measuring sugar levels in urine, blood pressure, body fat and weight. The clever toilets can help you to improve your health and have a better diet. There are more of different technologies beside the clever toilet, such as electric car but it is not very popular in today's world. Electric cars were built to save the environment by not using gasoline. However, like I said, electric cars are not very popular, therefore, there isn't many station to charge if you run out of power in the middle of the street. For busy people, technologies can save you a lot of time when they finish most of the work for you or like the clever toilet, it helps you to notice your health level to be healthier, and it makes you have an easier life.
In conclusion, we can see that there are many advantages that we have on new technology like save the environment, easier to use, save our time, relaxable, healthier, etc. however, there are also disavantages about it such as the connection of a family is not as close as it used to be when people rely on techonologies to much.

Cultural Diversity

-What is cultural diversity? Explain why it is important to respect diversity?
Every single one of us is unique, different from others, no one is the same. We can come from different cultures, countries of the world. We might be different in appearance, language, beliefs, personality and beliefs. Just like the phrase "Cultural Diversity" which means the varieties in people, characteristics, societies and cultures on the whole world. In any culture, there is a majority and many monorities. The diverse may also appear in the cloth we wear and the music we listen.
With different cultures, people would express their feelings, the way they act and talk might be different from others. For instance, in some countries, when they talk, they use eye contacts a lot while in other countries, making eye contacts would be consider as rude. In Singapore, you only use your right hand to do daily works while using your left hand will be see as an insult. Culture Diversity creates variety traditions. Imagine having no differences and think about how boring a meal could be without Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Korean and the Western food! Having unique and differences in cultures make our life more interesting, so we should show respectful toward anyone no matter where they from. People from diverse cultures bring language skills, new ways of thinking, and creative solutions to difficult problems and negotiating skills.
Cultural Diversity makes the earth a diverting place to be on. Think about living in a world where we all think the same, act the same and think about how boring it would be!

Tet Holiday Homework [I decided to make up for the homework that I didn't do throughout the week that I was absent]

I chose the topic "Dinosaurs" from my book called "Dinosaurs" and from the website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinosaur.

     Differences:
          - From the website, there are little amount of pictures, but therefore, there are lot of information but in   the book, there are a lot of illustrations and the writers just summed up the needed information.
          - On the website, the picture presented in 2D form, on the other hand, the book presented the picture in 3D (popped-up) form.
          - On the website, there is NO writers' names or publisher, however, in the book, on the back cover, it tells us about the publisher.
          - On the website, you get the information for free, but it costs a lot of money to be able to print a whole bunch of books to publish so they have to charge you money.
          - On the website, there are a few of real images, while in the book, all of them are unreal images.

     Similarties:
          - The book and the website both have colorful images for the reader to understand more about the text.
          - The book and the website both give us a specific knowledge about a topic.
          - They both don't have specific author name on each information that we read.
          - They both don't have date and time that the news were sumbited or when the book was released.

     Question 2:
          - I think these features can change the readers like the readers don't know anything about the author's name so they can't be sure to trust it or not. But other than that, I think the book is more trustworthy because before they publish the book, they have to check for grammar, mistake, information (whether it is true or not). On the other hand, there are lot of people who posted the information on the internet, so it might contains a lot of biased information because different people are writing on one post. Otherwise, the internet is more useful for a big project because you can get different information from different sources and it gives us a bigger amount of informations.
          - To sum up what I just wrote above, the trustworthiness for both is mostly depends on the readers whether the reader want to read from where. Both of the internet and the book have good and bad sides for the reader to regconize. So...BE A SMART READER!!!! ☺☻☺☻

ICT News Report!!!!

Text means say goodbye to 'hello'
Tradition greetings like saying 'hello' has been replaced by language that we use in technology like 'hey', 'yo' or 'hola'. A simple 'goodbye' has also been replaced with 'ciao' or 'later'. As technologies got better and better in today's world, people also been affected by the language of it. Even a familiar word 'friend' has been 'kicked out' of people's language, the most common word they replaced 'friend' is 'mate' follow by 'buddy', 'pal' or 'dude'. According to Jonathon Green, a lexicographer and author of a dictionary of slang, the way that technologies work often results in us talking faster and using more slang, he also mention that he wouldn't be surprise if in 50 more years, there will be no use of saying 'goodbye' and 'hello'.
Tracy Blacher, MSN marketing director, said: "What is interesting is the speed that language is being modified by the adoption of new technology."
So we can see that not only that technologies affect the way we live, like we might use email instead of write a letter, but it also affect the language that we use today.
